SUNDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER 2025
MORE INFORMATION
WEYMOUTH Sun 21st September
OMRA returns to Weymouth in 2025, a favourite classic venue raced at for many years. We havent raced there since 2019 but we return for a Chase Boat Event for the first time.
Due to the cancellation of the Saturday at West Bay this is now round 7 of the 2025 Championship.
Set Up and Location
The Harbour Master has given permission to set up pits close to the access ramp down to the jetty along the harbour wall, with the Ribs moored at the furthest point to the Harbour entrance. Which gives us really easy access to the dock. But we MUST keep the pits area tight and not spread out as per image below, gazebos next to each other please. We can unload boats at the end of the ramped area then there is plenty of parking in the Pavilion Carpark.
Course + Chase Boats
Agreeing the exact course with the Harbour Master has been a challenge as there are a few restrictions around having marker buoys anchored near the harbour entrance, being too close to Portland etc. So what will happen is on exiting the Harbour turn immediately left towards the bathing marker line and our start buoy will be anchored near there. Then the course will follow along the coast in an elongated triangle shape. Exact length to be determined on conditions but a minimum 5km.
It will take 4-5mins to get out to the start buoy from the dock, so we are allowing 30mins max for each boat to complete the course, dock to dock time.
For this race we will be using our Valliant 520, plus a Rib and Skipper supplied by a local Rib instructor who works for the Weymouth Charter team as well. Its the same 7.8m Ribrcraft model as we have used in West Bay. His name is Tim and keen to get involved to help.
A notice to mariners has been issued for the race and no other events are taking place on the water.
We will be arriving at 7:30am to set up and will be looking to get the first runs underway by 9:30am, drivers meeting 9:15am.
NO ENGINES RUN BEFORE 9AM
PARKING
Parking is available in the Pavilion Carpark
TOILETS
Nearest Toilets are in the Pavilion Theatre
FAILSAFES
We expect Racers to be diligent in checking their failsafes. We have had out of control boats at Chase boat races before. So please ensure fitted or functional if an in built system. We will be checking all failsafes.
