SWANAGE PIER (RED FLAGGED)
SUNDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2023
SUNDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2023
MORE INFORMATION
So... NEW race time.
Swanage is fast approaching and we thought we should outline some important details regarding the upcoming race.
Setup - Saturday 16th
AKD/PKD are arriving in Swanage Friday evening and will also have the big RIB for the weekend. Aside from that, setup of the timing bridge and rescue boat is at 4pm-6pm on Saturday afternoon. The bridge trolley is being wheeled down the pier and then unloaded to the floating pontoon. Where it will be assembled, floated and tied off ready for ready for Sunday morning. Along with the rescue boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated by anyone arriving on the Saturday afternoon as well.
Race Day - Sunday 17th
Arrival is 8am-9am. Arrangements are currently being made for reserving parking at the pier. 10-12 car spaces have been asked for and will have to be first come first serve. More details on that to follow. Depending on numbers, the drivers meeting will be a 9:50 with racing to get underway at 10am.
Please see the course layout above. Launching and recovery is done by your pit man on the floating pontoon (similar to Weymouth) and boats are launched after the timing bridge. The ideal driving position is the front of the pit area. Do not drive your boat from the pontoon as you will not easily see the far right hand side of the course due to it being a water level. The higher pit area will block your view to the right.
It will be a standard 20min endurance race with first heats in the morning and second heats in the afternoon, with the presentation immediately afterwards. Again, help with packing up would be greatly appreciated.
