NEW for 2020

OMRA is heading to a brand new venue for a Chase boat event for Round 2 of the 2020 Championship. West Bay in Dorset.

We are running a new type of race to go hand in hand with OMRAs new affiliation with the UIM/BPRC and use of the digital timing system which has been approved for use at this venue.

For the first time in 50 years of OMRA hosting a chase boat event this will be a 10km fixed distance course, recognised as an official record category for Offshore Model Racing by the UIM. As the first race of this type, records shall be set in each class and the fastest overall time will officially hold a World Record for the distance. OMRA has never held official speed records previously in racing.

This is a single race weekend, not two separate races. Competitors will have a chance to set a time on the Saturday running in Class order, then on Sunday the fastest boat from each class will have the opportunity to go out first making best use of the generally favourable morning conditions. Giving the chance to beat your time from Saturday. The fastest time from either day will count towards your result. If you wish to race on only one day then your time will still count.

An exciting addition to the weekend is OMRA will be racing alongside and collaborating with the a P1 Aqua X Jetski world championship race. Racing at West Bay the same weekend. It was agreed with the Harbour Master our pits shall be alongside the Aqua X race control and public viewing area for maximum exposure for OMRA.

Racing Logistics
OMRA pits and Race Control will be located on the main harbour wall (will provide event map prior). We have direct access to the floating pontoons where model boats will be loaded on and off the Chase boats, this is approximately 60m away from the pits.

Boats can be unloaded from your car directly next to the pits and race control area. There is plenty of cheap parking in the town which is up to £5 per day.

The OMRA start bridge and course does not conflict with the Aqua X circuit.

There is also a fresh water wash down hose next to the pits.
