COWES SLALOM RACE

OMRA returns to Cowes for 2026 alongside the BPRC Cowes-Torquay race.
£20 per boat for the weekend.
Friday Schedule - Bridge Build
5:30pm - Our usual bridge and rescue boat building session. Floated out and tied off day before.
Saturday Schedule - Slalom Race
8am - Load in Set Up
10:40am - Heats 1+2
12:30pm - Lunch
1:30pm - Heat 3 (Final)
Sunday Schedule - Endurance Race
9am - Load in and Set up
10:40am - Drivers meeting
11am - Heat 1 Endurance Race
1pm - Lunch
2pm - Heat 2 Endurance Race

OMRA heads to Cowes for Round 6 and 7 on the August Bank holiday weekend. But we wanted to announce a special race format we will be running for the first time.
Since we started racing at Cowes back in 2018, there has been a tradition to experiment with different race formats on the Saturday. We have had Q1,Q2,Q3 Qualifying F1 style, Hot Laps Window, Tournament Head to Head etc.
For 2026 we are introducing the Cowes Slalom, part inspired by Downhill Skiing and Bobsleigh formats along with Jet Boat racing.
How it will work
ROUND 1 - Every boat will run a set number of laps individually per class, standard 4 buoy (inc bridge) course, clockwise direction. Nice and simple, the times are ranked in order.
ROUND 2 - Boats will then run the course again in the order of their time. Slowest First to fastest. However it wont be the same course. There could be buoys to circle or a tricky chicane perhaps. Times are added together from Round 1 and 2 to give a running order for the final round.
ROUND 3 - Its been talked about and promised for many years, and it will now finally happen. Round 3 will be ANTI-CLOCKWISE around the course (WTF), and we may even throw in a buoy to circle as well. So you will need to make sure your boat can turn left! It will be run in time ranked order so the last runners in each class will also know a time to beat to win, and we will set a countdown to the finish.
This event will push racers driving skill to the limit. You wont need to worry about other racers on the course, but if you want a fast time then you will need maximum control of your boat!

TRAVELLING TO COWES
Ferry Crossing
OMRA Cowes 2025 is supported by Red Funnel. As this is bank holiday weekend we encourage early booking for crossing and accomadation. A 25% discount for cars on Red Funnel is applicable for racers.
Parking
There is plenty of Parking available on the parade next to the race location at Trinity Landing.
Toilets
Public toilets are less than 70m from the race location
